Soccer and STEM on Display at Hartford Athletics Day of Learning and Fun

Mentoring in the Moment

"More than 40 girls — middle and high school students from Greater New Haven — took part in the Girls of Color Mentoring Network’s (GCMN) collaborative STEM event at the Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW) this spring, run by the CT STEM Academy. A program of The Foundation’s Community Fund for Women & Girls, the GCMN is a collective of eight local organizations finding new ways to bolster their work in serving girls of color."

Stem Day at Greater Hartford Athletic Inspires Hartford Area Students and Teachers

"After more than two years with few fields trips, Greater Hartford area students’ excitement was unmistakable as they crowded around peers’ science project displays and took part in hands-on science experiments on a gorgeous May day at Trinity Health Stadium. The STEM Day sponsored by the Hartford Athletic also included the opportunity to watch a United Soccer League exhibition game against the Boston Bolts, which Hartford Athletic resoundingly won 4-0."

Wallingford Teacher's STEM Enrichment Program Receives $100,000 Grant​

"When Pond Hill Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Christopher Stone founded the CT STEM Academy in Wallingford in 2011, he got a big assist from his state teachers union. The Connecticut Education Association provided a two-year, $10,000 grant to launch his after-school enrichment program, which, over the last five years, has opened the eyes of more than 15,000 students and their families to STEM skills and careers."
