STEM One Day Explorations Camp

Session A: Computer Science in Coding
Students will learn to code and create different coding projects including various video game styles using CS First Curriculum from Google. Students with varying ability can have success creating their own video game, animating a story, or creating their own Google Doodle. Instructors will adapt curriculum to student knowledge.

Session B: Chemistry 101
Students will engage in learning about the states of matter and the basics of Chemistry. Activities will include making Sidewalk chalk, color chromatography, film canister rockets, elephant toothpaste, and Slime. Students will be encouraged to experiment with materials, so it is suggested to wear clothes/shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

STEM: Engineering Building Challenge

This program is designed for participants who would like a rich introduction to robotics! This program encourages critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. Participants will be using Lego Mindstorms EV3 to learn the basics of building a robot,coding and related STEM applications. Instructors will adjust program instruction to meet the needs of all participants.

STEM: Designs in Motion

Students will get to explore how to get things moving! Using Gravitrax, wall mazes, race car tracks, and tin foil boats student engineers will envision and design creations in motion. This will include making a paper roller coaster on a rubber track roller coaster, creating race cars using everything from straws, peppermints and K’NEX, and using creating a boat out of tin foil!

Developed with NASA based activities, this session will explore what it really means to be an astronaut and an aerospace engineer by combining science, engineering, and math all in one!

STEM: Water Water Everywhere

Students will learn the power of water and how essential it is to not only humans, but the Earth as a whole. Topics will range from exploring pollution to create small scale water slides! If you are a student who loves the water, this class will be an exciting look into all that water can do!

Students will get to use STEM principles to make wonderful works of art! This is a fun program for all who are interested in Art connections to STEM. Each week we will explore a wide range of topics from Robotics, Science, and Math that will result in a variety of Make and Take projects.
